Does myWMS set a new standard?
The basic idea behind myWMS is to create a customized system for
the current application using standard components. Fraunhofer IML
will verify that all of the components comply with the standard.
Does myWMS work support other products?
myWMS supports the conventional APIs to integrate with other
applications. Beside this myWMS offers its own libraries to
integrate with other applications or systems. For instance:
- JMS
- Web Services
- XML, ASCI or binary over TCP/IP
- XML based import/export
myWMS serves to supplement the existing systems - not to
compete with it.
How can I benefit from using myWMS?
You have access to the source code of myWMS and can use the system
for your own applications. The open design of myWMS includes open
interfaces. As a result, you have the potential of working with
many partners and guaranteeing your capital investment for the long
term. In addition to this, the open development of myWMS and its
implementation in Java result in a largely operating system
independent platform.
Is there a demo available?
It is hard to demo a framework, but yes. Based on the myWMS we have
build up a basicWMS. If you are familiar with Java and J2EE: the
basicWMS is a kind of a "Pet Shop example" for myWMS - a very small
demo of the framework.
The webfrontend (intended for industrial handhelds) of the
basicWMS is available over the
wiki.
The Control Center is available over WebStart.
Another sample is the open source distribution
LOS, foundet on myWMS and distributed by
LinogistiX
GmbH.
What does myWMS cost?
There is no cost if myWMS is used for non-commercial purposes. A
small license fee has to be paid in order to use myWMS for
commercial purposes.
What does myWMS mean in regard to Open Source?
myWMS is open source, which means the source code of the myWMS is
free available. Using the system for non-commercial purposes is
also free. A small licence fee applies, if the system is used for
commercial purposes. As soon, as the licence fee applies, the
proprietary contributions and enhancements are not required to be
given back to the open source part of myWMS.
Additionally to this, since March 2009 myWMS is available
under the GPL. In this dual licensing, the user has the choice
between the commercial and the open licence.
Who provides support?
Fraunhofer
IML will help you to customize and implement myWMS and will
provide you with the necessary training.
Beside this, the
partners do
provide support on distinct aspects of myWMS.
